    After her father’s passing in 1924, Lee was left to pick up the pieces of her fathers legacy. She soon assumed leadership of the First Chinese Baptist Church in honor of her father, the Chinese Christian Center offered services of free healthcare and English language classes, providing American-Americans a safe space to learn and adapt to the new environment. At the time Chinese people faced hate crimes and violence from other communities.
